FAQ Of The Day: Where Do You Get Coupons?

Hey all! I don't have a lot of time this week due to our church's Spiritual Leadership Conference all week, but I thought I'd put up a quick FAQ of the day each day. These are questions I've been asked by several people so I will put together a quick answer.

First FAQ of the day:

Where do you get your coupons?


Newspapers
I buy several Sunday papers each week. The AV Press does often have different coupons than the LA Times, so I buy both - usually 2 of each. The AV Press is available everywhere - newsstands all over town, Walmart, grocery stores, etc. The LA Times can be a little trickier to find. They tend to have these at gas stations, 7-11s, and Starbucks. I am planning to get a Sunday-only subscription to both soon so I don't have to go out to buy them every week!

In the Mail
The Redplum coupon insert comes in the mail, free, every Tuesday. Be sure to not throw it away! Clip all these coupons. I also receive coupons from various companies from time to time - I suggest going to all the major manufacturer's websites (P&G, etc.) and signing up for their mailing lists. Go to all your favorite brand's websites and sign up for their mailing lists! You will start receiving coupons in the mail in a few weeks. There are also coupons in the weekly ads you receive in the mail (grocery stores, discount stores, etc.). Make sure not to throw those away, either!

Magazines
I keep an eye out in all magazines I read for coupons. You can frequently find coupons inside many different types of magazines. I have started buying All You magazine every month. Each month the magazine has $50+ worth of coupons inside! The magazine costs less than $3 so it definitely pays for itself.

Online
You can find many, many printable coupons online from sites such as coupons.com, smartsource.com, redplum.com, couponmom.com, and your local grocery store websites. My printer broke so I am currently unable to print coupons, which means I am missing a lot of amazing deals at the moment. :( We are currently looking for a cheap new printer. If I can find one at a good enough price it will pay for itself in a month with all the coupons I will be able to print! But if you have access to a printer, do not miss all the amazing coupons you will be able to print! If you don't have one, consider trying to find a cheap one. Like I said, it will pay for itself in about a month. :)

On Product Packaging
Check all product packaging for coupons. There are often coupons stuck to the products (called peelies), or inside the box/bag. Always check before tossing the packaging! There are also coupons in grocery stores near products, and coupons that print from the register when you purchase certain products (called Catalinas).

    Target also has it's own list of coupons that can be matched up with any manufacturer's coupon as well. :) I'm really getting into this and can't wait to watch my budget grow instead of shrink. :)

Can I Just Hide In Bed 'Til Jesus Comes Back?

I'll admit - I wanted to read Can I Just Hide In Bed 'Til Jesus Comes Back?: Facing Life With Courage, Not Comforters by Martha Bolton and Christin Ditchfield mainly because of the cute cover (I mean, just look at it!) and the fun title. I often just want to hide in my bed with junk food, books, and Netflix and retreat from the world and responsibilities. However, I know that hiding in bed really isn't the answer to life's problems. I figured I'd pick up this book and see what Martha and Christin have to say about facing life head on. Forgiving Our Fathers And Mothers by Leslie Leyland Fields (with Dr. Jill Hubbard) is one of the best books on forgiveness I've read in a long time. Each chapter details a different aspect to the parent/child relationship and need for forgiveness, followed by a word from Dr. Jill and study questions. I really enjoyed this format. It was like getting to the heart of the matter with Leslie, and then visiting a professional psychologist (Dr. Jill) to process your emotions afterward. Leslie uses her own real life story, plus the stories of others who have had difficult relationships with their parents, plus plenty of Scripture, to trace the path to forgiveness and healing. This book really hit home for me. Warning: it will probably make you cry! Leslie's story, as well as all of the others, were alternately emotional, touching, sad, horrifying, and redeeming.
