I'll be honest: I'm not necessarily a huge fan of Amish fiction. Oftentimes it tends to be idealized, unrealistic, or contrived. However, I decided to check out Kate Lloyd's new book, A Letter From Lancaster County (the first in her new Lancaster Discoveries series) because it seemed so unique. The main characters are not Amish (although one is Mennonite), but many of the supporting cast are Amish and it is set in the heart of Amish country, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The back cover says: " Two Sisters Get a Second Chance at Life and Love Angela Her mother's untimely death, a struggling marriage, a strained relationship with her sister, Rose, and regrets over what might have been haunt her. Despite being a wife and mother, she feels she has little to show for her life. Rose Still single, she longs for a husband and children. But Angela has all that and still isn't happy. Code 13

Code 13 is the second book in Don Brown's Navy JAG series (the first being Detained). I really enjoyed Detained, so I was excited to read the next installment in the series. This series is a collection of military thrillers, focused particularly on the Navy JAG unit. The book description reads: "THE U.S. NAVY’S BILLION-DOLLAR CONTRACT FOR THE SALE OF DRONES LANDS TWO NAVY JAG OFFICERS IN THE GUN SIGHTS OF A KILLER. Caroline is just getting her feet wet at the prestigious Code 13, but is thankful for at least one familiar face—her old flame, P.J. MacDonald. The Sea Keeper's Daughters

The Sea Keeper's Daughters is the third book in Lisa Wingate's A Carolina Heirlooms/A Carolina Chronicles series, following The Prayer Box and The Story Keeper, both of which were excellent. There are also three short stories which I haven't been able to read yet: The Sea Glass Sisters, The Tidewater Sisters, and The Sandcastle Sister. Lisa Wingate's books tend to be hit or miss for me (some I've had to force myself to finish because they were so slow), but this series is definitely a hit for me. The premise of the third book is this: "From modern-day Roanoke Island to the sweeping backdrop of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains and Roosevelt’s WPA folklore writers, past and present intertwine to create an unexpected destiny. Restaurant owner Whitney Monroe is desperate to save her business from a hostile takeover.
